What is a Palindrome?

A palindrome is a word or phrase that is spelled the same way forward as back. e.g. madam, level, mum, dad, ‘Do geese see god?’.

The Puzzle Task:

By placing a finger on the letter ‘L’ trace along the connecting lines to see how many different ways can you create the word ‘level’.

You can go forward and backward. You can use letters twice but when you get to a letter you must use it, you can’t skip over it.

Get Everyone Involved:

Teaching Point:

  • To ensure all the possibilities are found it is probably best to devise a way of recording all the patterns used. The age-old problem-solving strategies of ‘work logically’ and ‘draw diagrams’ will serve you well in seeking a solution to this puzzle.
